David Henderson
Chief ExecutiveWith extensive leadership experience across the third sector and public sector, David brings his knowledge of developing health-focused partnerships and scaling the impact of cancer care and research-focused organisations. He is passionate about the intersection of physical activity and wellbeing, and strives to ensure programmes of support are accessible to all. David believes strongly in the power of movement for those living with and after cancer.
Nazmeen Wardle-BI
Operations DirectorNaz has over 20 years of experience in the charity and health sector, working in various roles in campaigning, change management, and youth development. She was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma two years ago, and has personally experienced the benefits of movement during her cancer journey.
GILLIAN RUSSELL
Marketing & Comms LeadGillian joined the team after a long shift (30 years!) at the BBC. She loves cycling, paddle boarding, walking and skiing. She’s passionate about the power of movement and is on a mission to tell everyone about the wonderful work of MOVE Against Cancer!
SOPHIE MULLIGAN
Fundraising ManagerSophie has had Leukaemia three times. She joined MOVE after completing the online programme herself. Sophie set up the ‘Move as one’ support group and now manages all things fundraising from supporting our community and corporate fundraisers, to submitting grant applications and organising charity events.
Josie Darwin
Programme CoordinatorJosie is MOVE’s Programme Coordinator and has previously worked in the charity and private sector. She enjoys running and sees the benefit of exercise in her own life, as well as in the lives of family members living beyond cancer. She is passionate about enabling people to find support and create community on their journey with MOVE.
SOPHIE GASSON
Cancer Rehab InstructorSophie is a trained Oncology Nurse and Level 4 Cancer Rehab Instructor. She has carried out research studying the benefits of exercise in young people with cancer and supports young people on our online programme.
BETH BOXALL
Cancer Rehab InstructorBeth is passionate about helping people benefit from exercise they enjoy. For Move, she designs programmes for young people on the MOVE online programme, and is an Ambassador for the Rickmansworth 5K Your Way.
Anna Louise Powell
Cancer Rehab SpecialistAnna is passionate about helping individuals recovering from cancer regain strength, mobility, and confidence through the power of movement and connection. Outside of work, Anna leads an active lifestyle—cycling, running, swimming, surfing, and paddleboarding. When she’s not outdoors, she’s likely exploring new cafés in search of the perfect coffee. She’s excited to connect and grow stronger together with the MOVE community.
NATALIE HALLAS
Cancer Rehab instructorWith a background in both exercise science and health economics, Natalie brings a range of experience to her role as a MOVE instructor.
Helen Beckmann
Cancer Rehab InstructorHelen is a Chartered Physiotherapist with experience of working with oncology patients, palliative care, pain management and rehabilitation. She is a level 4 Cancer Rehab instructor and supports both participants of our Move programme and is the Ambassador for 5K your way at Alice Holt.
STEPH STILL
Cancer Rehab InstructorSteph is a cancer rehab and fitness instructor teaching a variety of classes with an MSc in clinical exercise science. Steph was at dance college when she was diagnosed with a brain tumour and wants to help motivate young people to move.
GEMMA HILLIER MOSES
FounderGemma founded MOVE in 2016 after she was diagnosed with cancer in 2012 at the age of 24. As a former International athlete she wanted to use the power sport and exercise to support other young people with cancer.
LUCY GOSSAGE
5k Your Way Co-Founder & TrusteeLucy is an oncologist who specialises in the treatment of germ-cell tumours and sarcomas. She is also a retired professional triathlete. Lucy believes passionately in the power of movement for those living with and after cancer and, since co-founding 5K Your Way in 2018, has lived and breathed this belief.
Claire O’Rourke
Chair of TrusteesCurrently Managing Director of Greater Manchester Cancer Alliance, Claire has worked in cancer services most of her NHS career. In 2019 her husband John received a double cancer diagnosis. Claire is a keen long distance ultra runner and a passionate fundraiser for cancer charities alongside her family.
LEWIS MOSES
TrusteeLewis, the owner of New Levels Coaching and Runner Retreats, is a devoted advocate of MOVE Charity’s mission. Inspired by his wife and MOVE Founder Gemma’s cancer journey, he is passionate about the work MOVE does.
DR FIONA MIALL
TrusteeFiona, one of our founding trustees, is a haematology consultant and deputy director of the medical school at Leicester University. Her firsthand experience with the positive impact of physical activity on patients during treatment has led her to advocate for our online programme.
CLARE STEVINSON
TrusteeClare, a founding member of the MOVE Trustee board, is a senior lecturer at Loughborough University. With a Ph.D. focused on exercise in cancer rehabilitation, Clare has conducted valuable research fellowships in physical activity and cancer.
NIGEL HILLIER
TrusteeNigel, a founding member of our trustee board, brings valuable experience as a former financial advisor to the team. Alongside his wife Ann, Nigel has been a constant pillar of support for their daughter Gemma as she stepped into the unknown to establish MOVE Charity.
DAVE BARNETT
TreasurerDave is a former partner in an accountancy firm and has been the charity’s independent accountant since it started in 2016. Dave brings a wealth of financial experience to the MOVE board.
