2012
MEET GEMMA
In 2012, aged 24, former International Athlete, Gemma Hillier Moses was diagnosed with Burkitt Lymphoma. She needed support to stay active during her and after treatment and regain her fitness, but the support just didn’t exist.
2016
MOVE WAS BORN
In 2016, Gemma founded MOVE to provide other young people diagnosed with cancer with the support she didn’t receive.
2018
5K YOUR WAY LAUNCHED
In collaboration with Oncologist and professional triathlete, Dr Lucy Gossage, the 5K Your Way, Move Against Cancer Initiative was launched.
2020
THE PANDEMIC
While 5K Your Way groups were paused, the online programme thrived and evolved. Our team focused on developing our online library of resources, workshops and storytelling. Despite being physically separated, the Move Against Cancer community was growing.
2025
A FLOURISHING COMMUNITY
Today, Move Against Cancer is a growing community of people who believe passionately in the power of movement for those living with and beyond cancer and challenge the myth that ‘rest is best’.
