Luke Grenfell-Shaw
Diagnosed with Stage 4 Sarcoma at just 24, Luke made the extraordinary decision to cycle across the world, from Bristol to Beijing. Not knowing how long he had left he cycled 20,000 miles, raised over £130,000 for cancer charities (including MOVE Against Cancer) and had 800 people join him along the way. He coined the term “canliver” to describe his approach to living with cancer, demonstrating that it IS possible to live well and fully after a diagnosis.
Since becoming a professional trailrunner and filmmaker he’s represented Great Britain, won international races and made award-winning documentaries.
Luke is passionate about physical activity and the difference movement can make when living with cancer. His epic cycle challenge has been documented in an award-winning film A LIFE IN TANDEM. “This film is about hope, about finding a way forward when things feel impossible”, says Luke. “Even the smallest amount of exercise could make all the difference”.
